After a year of absence, NATO Days are once again with visitors
Despite the cloudy morning on the first day of the NATO Days in Ostrava & the Czech Air Force Days 2021, a smile was visible on the faces of the visitors. After last year, when due to measures against covid-19 the public could not visit the event, this year the gates opened to visitors. The flags of eighteen participating countries were flown over the 21st edition of the largest security show in Europe, and everyone present can find the best that can be seen in the field of security. The main stars of this year are the F-35A Lightning II and MQ-9 Reaper, representing the current cutting edge of modern technology in the world.
After the opening jump of the Czech paratroopers, dynamic demonstrations began both in the air and on the ground. Among the most interesting was the inaugural joint flight of refueling aircraft KC-130 of the US Air Force and the premiere A-330 MRTT together with the aircraft of the Air Force of the Czech Armed Forces. A special part of the program was the joint flight of these aircraft, including the JAS-39 Gripen. The fighters were complemented by top demonstrations of high-pilotage F-16 Greek Zeus Demo Team and Turkish Soloturk. A historical delicacy was the flight demonstration of the transport "Dakota" C-47 from the time of the landing of Allied troops during World War II. World War II in Normandy. Apart from demonstrations of machines or combat activities of the ACR, demonstrations of other rescue and security forces could be seen on the ground. From the Police of the Czech Republic with Polish partners, the Prison Service through the Customs Administration and their partners from Germany and Slovakia, the Fire and Rescue Service to the Ostrava Municipal Police or the TATRA TRUCKS company. A total of 92 demonstrations and 19 hours of the program for both weekends were complemented by a static exhibition of technology and activities in the event.
For the first time in the history of the event, it was necessary to register to enter the event. Following an agreement with the Hygiene Service of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, 40,000 visitors were allowed for each day of the event. Registration for the event was mediated by Ticketportal. Simultaneously with the registration, the visitors of the event also had to prove vaccination pass or test.
"Our event, as one of the few events of this type in Europe this year, is open to the public again after a pandemic break," says Zbyněk Pavlačík, Chairman of Jagello 2000 and adds: "We are very pleased to be able to welcome the visitors again at Mošnov Airport, which we also take as a thank you to all our fans."
Visitors to the event can look forward to Sunday's program, which is largely the same as Saturday's, but some delicacies are also prepared during it. The weekend program of NATO Days in Ostrava & ACR Air Force Days will close with a joint flight of six helicopters consisting of Mi-24/35, Mi-171, W-3A Sokol, UH-60 BlackHawk, AS332 Super Puma and AW109.
