ASC Dukla will host an autograph session with Czech sports stars!
This year, the Army Sports Centre Dukla will once again lighten up the adrenaline-filled programme of NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days with an exciting autograph event featuring sports stars. The medalist of this year's Olympic Games in Paris, javelin thrower Nikola Ogrodníková, and two-time European champion in the under-23 slalom, canoeist Vojtěch Heger, will be in attendance.
Both athletes have achieved remarkable success in their disciplines.Nikola Ogrodníková, in addition to her outstanding result at the 2024 Olympics, won a silver medal at the 2018 European Athletics Championships and at the 2023 European Games. Vojtěch Heger has been competing at the international level since 2016 and is also a U23 European silver medallist as well as a team silver medallist at the 2021 World Championships.
ASC Dukla is the Ministry of Defence's elite sports centre, and its primary mission is to provide optimal conditions for athletes preparing for top global competitions – the Olympic Games, World Championships, European Championships, and other major events. Currently, it supports the training of the best Czech athletes in disciplines such as athletics, cycling, canoeing, skiing, modern pentathlon, parachuting, sport shooting, rowing, and canoe slalom.
Throughout its history, the Army's elite sports programme has produced some of the most prominent figures in Czechoslovak and Czech sport, many of whom are still considered global sporting legends. Examples include Emil Zátopek, Josef Masopust, Jan Železný, Štěpánka Hilgertová, Kateřina Neumannová, Eva Samková, Ester Ledecká, and many others. The iconic red and yellow Dukla jersey has been worn by 32 Olympic champions, hundreds of World and European champions, and thousands of national champions.
At the event, ASC Dukla will also have its own exhibition, where visitors will not only be able to meet the athletes but also try out a laser shooting simulator used by modern pentathletes or test their rowing skills on an ergometer to see how fast they can row 100 metres.
