OMNIPOL celebrates 90 years since its foundation!
This year's NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days would not be complete without the presence of one of the Czech Republic's most prominent traders in modern technologies, defence and security equipment, and electronic systems, the OMNIPOL industrial group. The company will show visitors the new generation L-39NG trainer aircraft in its full glory.
The company was founded in 1934 and is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. Originally, it operated as a division of Škoda in Plzeň and in its early days it successfully engaged in barter business.
After World War II, OMNIPOL, as a nationalized company, began focusing on the export of aircraft and specialized materials. It later gained a monopoly in this area, becoming the sole exporter of the legendary L 410, L-29, L-39, L-13, and L-200 aircraft. This success helped the company quickly earn a strong global reputation, which it continues to hold to this day.
The 1980s marked a golden era for the company, with 600 employees and an annual aircraft production reaching into the hundreds. OMNIPOL also managed to establish production plants in Libya and Iraq. However, the aviation industry in the Czech lands began to decline later on. OMNIPOL played a role in its recovery, and in 1996, when Richard Háva became the owner, the situation began to improve. The company became financially linked with manufacturing companies such as Aircraft Industries and AERO Vodochody AEROSPACE, as well as ERA and MESIT, which helped OMNIPOL re-emerge as a strong industrial group with unique expertise and high-tech products exported worldwide, maintaining an excellent reputation.
Today, nearly 4,000 specialists within the OMNIPOL group provide top-tier solutions for the defence and security sectors.
