Poland becomes the NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days 2014 Special Partner Nation

01.09.2014, 09:01

Starting this year, the NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days organizers are introducing a new presentation concept. “Each year, one of the participating countries will bear the title of the Special Partner Nation. This status is allowing a broader and more effective presentation of a country´s forces and assets, compared to standard participations,” explains Zbyněk Pavlačík, Head of the Jagello 2000, the show´s main organizing agency.

This innovation will further make the show's programme more attractive, both for the visitors and for the presenting country. “NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days have now become a prestigious, European-format event and our international partners liked this new presentation concept,” adds Pavlačík. The first-ever Special Partner Nation will be Poland. “Poland was a natural choice to address first – they were historically first foreign participant country at the very first NATO Day back in 2001. Moreover, Czech Republic and Poland are commemorating 15th anniversary of their NATO membership this year,” comments Pavlačík.

“Special Partnership with Poland this year means the largest-ever presentation of Polish units and equipment, along with presence of highest Polish political, military and security dignitaries. There will be a special enlarged presentation space dedicated to Poland in the show´s area as will be the case also for future SP Nations,” explains Pavlačík.

The visitors can look forward to joint static demonstrations of Polish Air Force, Army and Special Forces. “Seeing these units together will be a unique treat,” continues Pavlačík. Poland has by far largest security and defence capabilities in the whole of Central Europe and will thus boast a wide exhibition.

“The details on specific Polish presentation are still under discussion but we can already confirm some attractive demonstrations. The Air Force is going to present great manoeuvrability of the MiG-29 fighter aircraft. “The MiG-29 display is a breathtaking one, the pilot is squeezing the best out of his aircraft,” comments Pavlačík. This machine could be also viewed at the static park, together with the other Polish Air Force supersonic aircraft – the F-16 and the Su-22.”

Besides the fighter aircraft, cargo planes will be presented, too, in what will be the Polish Air Force display of its very wide strategic and tactical capacities.

The Polish Army will also present the best from their equipment. Besides the HMMWV special force vehicles, there will be a dynamic presentation of the Leopard 2A tank and a static exhibition by the Rosomak armoured personnel carrier, presented at the Ostrava show already in 2009.

“The new Special Partner Nation concept is a forward-looking one, to be repeated regularly in future years. “We have already started dialogue with some interesting nations for 2015 and 2016,” concludes Pavlačík.
