The premiere of the Greek demo team Daedalus expected at the NATO days
After a one-year pause, the Greek Air Force is returning to the NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days, and it will present Demo Team "Daedalus" with the Beechcraft T-6A Texan II training aircraft for the first time.
The Greek Air Force has two demo teams. The F-16 Demo Team "Zeus" has already thundered over Mošnov four times, the last time in 2021. Now, in its premiere, it will be joined by a second team called "Daedalus". They will demonstrate the T-6A Texan II turboprop training aircraft in the air.
"The Texan II is based on the PC-9 aircraft, which is well known to regular visitors of the event from the displays of the Slovenian Air Force, so we are happy that thanks to the Greek Air Force we will be able to offer its successor," said Zbyněk Pavlačík, chairman of Jagello 2000. "We believe that even Daedalus will gain similar audience favour as Zeus did with the F-16 before, although it will of course be a completely different type of aerobatics."
Demo Team Daedalus was created in 2005, when it continued the long history of Greek Air Force teams. Its name refers to a legendary ancient builder and the first man to soar into the air on self-made wings. From the very beginning, the demo team has performed on the agile T-6 Texan II turboprop trainer, currently manufactured by Beechcraft Corporation. It was developed from the Pilatus PC-9 trainer aircraft. However, it underwent some modifications for the needs of uniform training of the US Air Force and Navy. Currently, the aircraft are used by the air forces of the United States of America, Greece, New Zealand, or Mexico.
