Czech Customs Service in cooperation with foreign colleagues will intervene against smugglers
The Czech Customs Service represents one of the traditional participants of NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days which dynamic displays are truly popular among visitors. This year, it will also show its capabilities alongside with its German and Slovak counterparts. At the static display, it will present its work results and introduce its history.
Visitors of this year's NATO Days can look forward to two dynamic displays by Czech Customs Service, demonstrating not only their abilities but also cooperation with foreign colleagues. In the first display, the Czech customs officers will work with their colleagues from the Slovak Customs Criminal Office’s Intervention Unit and the German Customs Investigation Bureau and perform a detention of perpetrators illegally dealing with drugs and weapons on the border. The second display will be focused on service dogs, trained to search for drugs, tobacco products or weapons, as well as for endangered animals and plants.
At the same time, the Czech Customs Service has prepared a large static display including presentation of falsified goods or goods listed in the CITES Convention, a multilateral treaty that aims to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten the survival of the species in the wild. Visitors can also take a closer look at the demonstrations of the Customs Drug Unit which include a simulated cannabis plant growing stage, a tobacco product line, or an illegal alcohol production.
As this year's NATO Days are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the formation of Czechoslovakia, the Czech Customs Service will celebrate also its own history, namely the operation of the Financial Guard of the Czechoslovak Republic. The visitors will thus have a unique opportunity to see the current technology and equipment, including a mobile lab, mobile X-ray, and a large-capacity container. Last but not least, visitors will be able to check if they are clear of debts in the exposition.
