First American participation announced! Chinook and Apache will arrive
The United States Armed Forces are starting to confirm the equipment they have prepared for the NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. And right away we can look forward to the premiere of the CH-47 Chinook transport helicopter.
We lost an attractive display of it last year due to the grounding of Chinooks, so we have not yet had the opportunity to see this Boeing machine in American colours at the Mošnov airport. The AH-64 Apache attack helicopter, which was also on static display last year, will not be absent.
"The CH-47 Chinook has only appeared once at NATO Days in Ostrava, under the Dutch flag in 2008. So we have here a great return after 15 years, which we believe will attract many visitors," said Zbyněk Pavlačík, Chairman of Jagello 2000. "That is why we are very pleased with their participation every year and this is certainly not the only equipment that the USA will show at NATO Days."
Medium transport helicopter CH-47 Chinook is characterized by its tandem twin-rotor configuration. It was manufactured by Boeing and made its first flight in 1961. The Chinook is capable of carrying up to 55 troops or 12.700 kg of cargo. The aircraft took part, for example, in the Vietnam War and continues to serve in many countries such as Japan, Spain, Iran, or Indonesia.
Multirole attack helicotper AH-64 Apache has been in use by the U.S. military for 37 years. The helicopter is capable of performing a variety of tasks from target destruction to fire support for ground troops. The U.S. has used the Apaches, for example, in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Currently, Greece, Netherlands, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia also have them in their arsenal.
