Germany to showcase all military branches, again

10.04.2015, 10:51

In a most welcome announcement from our western neighbour, the German Armed Forces confirm to follow up and expand their last year’s joint air force, army and navy presentation this September. Their impressive participation will be further bolstered by the debut dynamic display.

In 2014, Germany displayed three aircraft in the static park – a Eurofighter Typhoon representing the air force, a Sea King Search and Rescue helicopter of the navy and an army multipurpose Bo-105 helicopter. The Eurofighter and the Bo-105 will be displayed again this year, complemented by a C-160 Transall transport plane, all in the static park. The German Navy is sending a different type for the static – a Sea Lynx helicopter, to be seen at Ostrava for the very first time. Army’s Bo-105 will be presented both in the static park and in the dynamic programme.

“Germany is our largest neighbour and essential economic and security partner and we have been building a mutual cooperation for many years. German aircraft were first displayed in 2007 and many visitors for sure still remember the spectacular German Customs Service presentation in 2011,” says Zbyněk Pavlačík, head of Jagello 2000. “I must still admit that the extent of this year’s planned participation was a great surprise. I will say nothing new, but this large planned German presence is a testimony to the growing international prestige of NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days.”

Update (June 3, 2015):
German Navy sends not only Sea Lynx, but also EC-135 helicopter

The Eurofighter Typhoon multipurpose fighter plane is a regular visitor at the Ostrava show and it was Germany that presented this aircraft for the last time in 2014. The German C-160 Transall aircraft was presented in 2008 and 2009 and has since been seen as a support aircraft flying for the Turkish aerobatic teams. The light and versatile Bo-105 helicopter was presented in the static for the first time last year and this year, the visitors will have a chance to appreciate its great agility in the air.

Organizers are further discussing possible participation of German civil security and safety agencies, so the country’s presentation this year might be ever larger in the end.
