Germany will bring heavy armoured vehicles and special equipment
An essential part of NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days is the presentation of ground military equipment. Traditionally, the German Armed Forces show it in great numbers among foreign participants and this year will be no exception.
German ground equipment enjoys great popularity every year. This year, the German Army has prepared the traditional static displays in the form of the Puma infantry fighting vehicle, the Boxer armoured fighting vehicle and the Leopard 2 main battle tank.
The German Army equipment will be complemented by the Joint Support Services machines, for which this year's participation is the largest at NATO Days so far. Static displays will include the Mowag Eagle wheeled armoured vehicle, Merlo telescopic handler, T6 Widder transporter, and other equipment. Visitors can also enjoy a dynamic display of service dogs.
"Germany is an important partner and ally of the Czech Republic, which was confirmed by the donation of 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks as a compensation for the equipment sent to help Ukraine," said Zbyněk Pavlačík, chairman of Jagello 2000. "We are, as every year, very pleased with the significant participation of German ground equipment, which will include both unusual displays and popular classics such as heavy armoured vehicles, including the Leopard 2 tank."
Leopard 2 tanks in upgraded versions are now in service in the armies of nearly 20 countries, and others are ordering them, usually as replacements for outdated Soviet types. Among its strengths are the tank's firepower, armour, speed and manoeuvrability. Also worth mentioning is the possibility of repairing them with parts from other tanks, which, for example, some American machines do not allow.
The Boxer armoured fighting vehicle is unique in its multi-purpose capability, which lies in the ability to change its configuration to combat, command, ambulance or repair within 20 minutes. In contrast, the Puma infantry fighting vehicle, which is considered as the combat vehicle with the best crew protection, has, for example, protection against chemical and biological weapons.
