Germany’s Leopard again to join Czech Army’s demonstration
After a series of announced aviation displays that visitors of this year's NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days can look forward to, we can also publish an attractive foreign ground presentation. It will be offered by Germany, which, in addition to its aircraft, will also show armoured vehicles - two Leopard 2 battle tanks, to be specific.
The German Army will present one tank on a static display, the second one will show its driving characteristics and will also participate in the demonstration of the Czech Army's combat activities. Leopard tanks will repeat their presentation in 2016, when Germany was the Special Partner Nation of NATO Days.
"As well as last year, Germany in a unique way follows its status of the Special Partner Nation, when its military units and security forces want to present themselves in the same extent as two years ago, unfortunately we encounter the limits of the event’s venue," commends Zbynek Pavlacik, chairman of the Jagello 2000. “The participation of the German Army among foreign ground forces is extraordinary, considering it will show two Leopard 2 tanks and moreover Bell 206 and EC-135 helicopters."
The German Leopard 2 battle tank has been part of the standard armament of the German armoured units since the 1970s, but it also serves in 16 other European and non-European countries. Germany presented it on NATO Days for the first time in 2016, but its Ostrava premiere happened already two years earlier in the markings of Poland.
This will not be the only land-based vehicles coming from Germany this year. Other German security services - police, customs administrations, the Red Cross, and the Federal Agency for Technical Relief - will be seen at the Mošnov airport as well, presented equipment will be further specified.
