Polish Special Forces Unit AGAT returns to Mošnov
This year's NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days will once again witness a presentation of ground forces equipment from three foreign participants. After Germany and the United States, Poland has confirmed participation of its Special Forces Unit AGAT, which will present its equipment including the Oshkosh M-ATV armoured vehicle at the static display.
Visitors could have met members of the Special Forces Unit AGAT at NATO Days twice already when last year they were presented with an attractive display of pair of Oshkosh M-ATV vehicles. These vehicles belong to the so-called MRAP category (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) and are constructed to withstand improvised explosive devices as well as ambushes. This year’s event will thus be marked by the return of this armoured vehicle, alongside with HMMWV, Land Rover Defender, the Polaris quad, or newly an ambulance.
“Due to the logistic demands, it is quite unusual to see ground forces equipment of foreign armed forces being presented at public events, therefore, we are truly grateful that we can host armoured vehicles from three different countries this year. In addition, Poland’s participation should be considered extraordinary also due to the fact that it presents equipment of the Special Forces which are subjects to a certain level of secrecy in numerous countries,” admires Zbyněk Pavlačík, chairman of Jagello 2000.
Special Operations Forces are a separate armed service within Polish Armed Forces, which was established in 2007 and which is under the direct command of the Chief of the General Staff. Polish SOF were represented at NATO Days by COMMANDO Special Forces Group for the first time in 2014 when Poland was the Special Partner Nation. AGAT itself, which main task is conducting diverse operations in the enemy's rear in order to disrupt their combat activities, debuted at NATO Days two years ago.
