Polish Special Forces Unit AGAT will bring Oshkosh M-ATV to Mošnov
This year's NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days will again host Polish Special Operations Forces. Similarly to last year's participation, Special Forces Unit AGAT will present to visitors its equipment including a premiere static display of the Oshkosh M-ATV vehicles.
Polish Special Operations Forces are a favourite participant at NATO Days not only due to their specific position in Polish Armed Forces, but also the equipment they bring to the event. This time, Special Forces Unit AGAT has prepared a premiere presentation of two Oshkosh M-ATV vehicles. These vehicles belong to the so-called MRAP category (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) as they are constructed in order to resist improvised explosive devices as well as ambushes. Its development was based on operational experience gained from the military mission in Afghanistan.
“Participation of such elite forces fulfils our long-term effort to present at NATO Days modern equipment, which really contributes to our security. Visitors will thus get the chance to have a closer look at vehicles that are shown in public quite rarely,” emphasizes Zbyněk Pavlačík, the chairman of Jagello 2000 and adds: “Besides Slovakia and Germany, it is already the third country which will display ground-based equipment at this year's NATO Days.” In addition to the M-ATV vehicles, AGAT will also bring, for example, two armoured HMMWV vehicles, Land Rover Defender or the Polaris quad.
Special Operations Forces are a separate armed service within Polish Armed Forces, which was established in 2007 and which is under the direct command of the Chief of the General Staff. Polish SOF were represented at NATO Days by COMMANDO Special Forces Group for the first time in 2014 when Poland was the Special Partner Nation. AGAT itself, whose main task is conducting diverse operations in the enemy's rear in order to disrupt their combat activities, debuted at NATO Days last year.
