The French Rafale returns to NATO Days
After four years, the French Rafale fighter jet will be on display again at the NATO Days in Ostrava & the Czech Air Force Days. This time, however, it will be presented to visitors for the first time on a static display.
The Rafale aircraft of the French Air Force have demonstrated their capabilities in dynamic demonstrations twice over the Mošnov airport. This year, for the first time, visitors will be able to see this aircraft of the French company Dassault up close.
"The French Air Force is returning to the NATO Days after three years, as last time it presented the Patrouille de France aerobatic group with Alpha Jets planes. We are happy that it will once again present itself with a machine of French origin, which does not appear here very often," says Zbyněk Pavlačík, chairman of Jagello 2000. "France is one of the important providers of security on the European continent, and in this respect we can perceive the participation of the Rafale aircraft as a symbol of allied commitments and partnership between the Czech Republic and France."
The Rafale is a French twin-engine combat aircraft that was created after France abandoned the development of a common European aircraft - the later Eurofighter. The Rafale can be used to fight for air supremacy, reconnaissance or attacks against land and sea targets. Unlike Eurofighters, it can be equipped with nuclear weapons and is also produced in a version suitable for operations from aircraft carriers. As the only non-American machine, it can land on the decks of American ships.
The Rafales first saw sharp action in an alliance mission in Afghanistan, where they provided air support to ground troops. They were also deployed in the operation in Libya and against the Islamic State.
In addition to France, these machines are also used in the air forces of Egypt, Qatar, India and Greece, but contracts for the supply of new or older Rafales have already been signed by Croatia, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates.
