13.09.2014, 19:00

Czech University of Defence will present a robotic vehicle TAROS 6x6 Furbo and a remote controlled gun carriage.

University of Defence has been a regular participant of NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days since 2001. This year, it presentation will feature robotic vehicle TAROS 6x6 Furbo, which belongs to a category of unmanned ground vehicles UGV, and a remote controlled gun carriage for i.e. automatic assault rifle CZ 805 BREN.

The development of modern UGV vehicles is lead by an effort to protect lives of the armed force members during dangerous military missions.

In addition to the typical exploration role of the vehicle, the UGV has its purpose directed towards a role of a combat support vehicle. The research and development of robotic vehicles used for the combat support activity is being implemented by University of defence, in connection with the latest trends and requirements of digitalization and robotic automation with an aim on advanced automation of operational and tactical process and a support of 21st century battlefield units.

Tactical Department of the Faculty of Military Leadership of the University of Defence is working closely with a government-owned company VOP CZ on the development of the UGV vehicles and the result of this cooperation is a multipurpose robotic vehicle UGV TAROS 6x6 Furbo, which was assembled in VOP CZ and presented last year for the first time on Exhibition of Defence And Security Technologies IDET in Brno. Implementation of these vehicles into the armed forces, which excels with a profound level of autonomy, is fully in compliance with developing trends of advanced armies in the world, who make efforts to replace a human soldier in a complex operating environments with robotic systems.

Among already mentioned combat exploratory vehicle UGV, the Tactical Department will present an experimental remote controlled gun carriage for personal weapons, for example the automatic assault rifle CZ 805 BREN. This gun carriage can be then used on the UGV vehicles.

The visitors of NATO Days in Ostrava will have an opportunity to get acquainted with the University of Defence study programme for the academic year of 2015/2016 that every 2 years offers a continuous five-year master study at the UoD faculties in Brno.

In addition to this, a large group of Military pilot and Air Navigation students will be involved in the organization of the event and will contribute in ensuring a smooth stay of foreign visitors, especially pilots and aircraft crews. This meeting with experienced foreign military pilots is a significant event for students, the future Czech Army pilots, as well as strong motivation for their further training.
