German Air Force will present Atlas in the air and Tornado on the ground
Just like the other services of German armed forces, the Air Force prepared excellent displays for the NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. Thanks to the Luftwaffe, the combat aircraft Tornado will be after three years on the static display and transport giant A400M Atlas will show his capabilities in the air.
Tactical turboprop aircraft A400M will appear in two displays – during simulated air-to-air refuelling and during a solo performance. Moreover, two aircrafts EC-135 from International Helicopter Training Center which will perform a static and dynamic display, were added to the confirmed equipment.
“The total number of German Air Force equipment on NATO Days will reach ten pieces of different types and categories. And we are not neglecting armoured vehicles and other equipment with which the number is reaching twenty,” says Zbyněk Pavlačík, Chairman of Jagello 2000. “Be able to offer three years in a row dynamic display of the aircraft A400 is really unique and we are very pleased that German Air Force ireturning with this machine in this way.“
A400M Atlas is four-engine turboprop tactical transport aircraft which was created in European cooperation under the Airbus company. It can land on a relatively short and unpaved surfaces and, in addition to normal transport, it can work also as an flying tanker. Among his specifics are counter-rotating propellers improving its flight characteristics which contributes to the fact that it has a strategic range.
Also, the variable-sweep wing multirole combat aircraft Panavia Tornado is based on a joint European project of the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy. This project led to the creation of three variants of aircraft for different tasks. In German Air Force, among other things, they are nuclear weapon carriers and also, they joined operations in the former Yugoslavia and six of these machines in reconnaissance modification supported the alliance mission in Afghanistan between 2007 and 2010.
