NATO Days under the North Atlantic Alliance partnership expect record international participation
Participants from up to 22 countries, a hundred aircraft and a thousand pieces of ground equipment will arrive at Leoš Janáček Ostrava Airport on the third weekend of September where the 22nd NATO Days in Ostrava & 13th Czech Air Force Days will take place. The role of special partner will be taken over by the North Atlantic Alliance itself, and the event will thus serve as an important presentation of international cooperation and allied determination.
"We can say that we have one of the best editions ahead of us with the longest program to date. This year's NATO Days in Ostrava & The Czech Air Force Days will be among the most prestigious events in the whole Europe," said Zbyněk Pavlačík, chairman of the organizing association Jagello 2000. "The event will be held in more than three weeks, and at the moment we are still intensively discussing other attractive participations, so we believe that this year's display list is not final yet. After two years, we do not yet expect any entry restrictions for visitors due to covid-19, but of course we are carefully monitoring the situation," added Pavlačík.
"It is thanks to the partnership directly with NATO that we have a very interesting participation," said Pavlačík. NATO will be directly represented by the AWACS early warning aircraft on static display and the A330 MRTT tanker which will be presented in the opening flights. As part of the program, Finland and Sweden will be welcomed as new candidate countries for membership in the North Atlantic Alliance in the form of a joint fly past.
The transatlantic relation will be emphasized by the presentation of the Canadian Air Force and the rich participation of the American armed forces. In total, equipment, and units from 16 member countries of the Alliance will be presented at the NATO Days.
"Membership in NATO is the best guarantee of our security, and although we have been trying to do so for the 22nd year, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine it is especially important to emphasize and explain the role of the North Atlantic Alliance," states Zbyněk Pavlačík, chairman of Jagello 2000. "We started discussing the NATO partnership last year, but given the current developments, we are especially glad that the representatives of the Alliance have accepted this role."
The unique concept of a special partner of the event enables the selected country or entity to present a more extensive presentation of the armed and security forces or industry. Since 2014, when it was introduced at NATO Days, Poland, Sweden, Germany, Slovakia, the USA and Romania have already presented themselves in this role.
