Slovakia returns with Black Hawk, Spartan and Albatross

11.07.2024, 11:34

The Slovak Air Force will not be missing among the participants at this year's NATO Days & Czech Air Force Days. It will present the L-39 Albatros training aircraft, the C-27J Spartan transport aircraft and the UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter on a static display. The latter will also offer a popular dynamic display.

While the flight demonstration of one of the most famous military helicopters, the UH-60M Black Hawk, will be seen at the Mošnov airport for the fourth year in a row, the L-39 Albatros training aircraft will be presented after eight years and the C-27J Spartan after five years.

"This year at the NATO Days, the Slovak Air Force plans to present a cross-section of its capabilities, in which the fighter air force is currently missing due to rearmament. In the near future, they will also acquire new training aircraft, so we will have one of the last opportunities to see the originally Czechoslovak Albatros, which was one of the world's most successful training jet aircraft," says Zbyněk Pavlačík, chairman of Jagello 2000.

Since the first flight in 1968, almost 3,000 L-39 Albatros training aircraft were produced by Aero Vodochody. To this day, it is the most widespread training jet in the world, which was in service with more than 40 air forces. Aero is trying to build on its success with a new version of the L-39NG, which is also being considered by Slovakia.

Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk multi-purpose helicopters are also among the most widespread machines worldwide, thanks to their qualities and number of modifications. They have proven their reliability and versatility during a wide range of operational deployments, both combat and non-combat. They are also used by many police units or when dealing with natural disasters. The Slovak Air Force has a total of 11 of these machines in service in the modernized version UH-60M.

The Slovak Air Force has a total of 2 C-27J Spartan twin-engine turboprop transport aircraft from the Italian company Leonardo-Finmeccanica in its inventory. They replaced retired An-24 and An-26 aircraft and their purpose is to serve the needs of international missions and national crisis management.
