Slovakia and its Air Force are among the traditional participants in the NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. Even this year, they will not miss the event and are going to demonstrate their legendary MiG-29 fighters during a flight over the airport in Mošnov.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic traditionally presents its aviation technology, which includes UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters or MiG-29 fighters. It is this legendary machine that has not missed a single year since 2010, and it will be the same this year. Spectators of the live broadcast can look forward to a show of these impressive aircraft.

"Like other states of the former Eastern bloc, Slovakia is addressing the issue of rearmament to newer technology, which would also meet NATO standards," comments Zbyněk Pavlačík, Chairman of Jagello 2000. "The current technology should be replaced by F-16V fighters, but until then we hope that the Slovak MiG-29 will fly to us for a few more years."

The twin-engine MiG-29 fighter, which was developed in the 1970s in the Soviet Union with an aim to gain air supremacy, still represents the backbone of the Slovak Air Force. Slovak MiGs underwent modernization in 2005 and 2006 to the NATO standard and will be in service until at least 2023, before being replaced by American F-16V fighters.
