The return of two kings: Kardoš and Šonka will fly again at NATO Days!
The award-winning pair of Czech pilots will once again fly together this year at the NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. Spectators can look forward to a demonstration of first-class piloting performed by Ivo Kardoš, a Major in the Czech Air Force on the JAS-39 Gripen, and Martin Šonka, an aerial acrobat on the Extra 300 special. The demonstration takes place thanks to the support of Saab, which is also the general partner of the event.
The pilot of the supersonic aircraft JAS-39 Gripen Ivo Kardoš and the winner of the prestigious Red Bull Air Race series Martin Šonka with the Extra 300 SR aircraft are again preparing and testing a set in which both aircraft fly together at a distance of a few meters. In addition to a large number of other awards, both pilots also won the Ostrava Mayor's Award for the best flight demonstration last year. In addition, Kardoš received this award for the second time, when in 2018, succeeded with his solo demonstration of the JAS-39C Gripen.
"We are happy to announce that both of these excellent pilots are returning to us this year as well, even more because Ivo Kardoš is no longer a display pilot and is thus performing normal activities within his unit. With their demonstration last year, they dominated the entire year," says Zbyněk Pavlačík, Chairman of Jagello 2000.
The uniqueness of the demonstration was also confirmed by foreign commentators and aviation fans, when their performance was included in the "Socially Distant Airshow" programme, which was broadcasted by LiveAirShowTV. However, it was not a classic airshow, but a selection of samples from previous events around the world. However, spectators of the broadcast from NATO Days 2020 can look forward to a new performance that will take place live.
